What’s been going on?

I’ve been writing, designing and implementing the game’s questlines over the last few weeks, and it’s all coming together quite nicely. I also coded some gooey blood splatter effects for combat, because videogames.

The UI changes that Catherine has been working on are looking brilliant, and I can’t wait to show them to you – they’re not quite game-ready yet, but when they are, you’ll be the first to know. I see you shiver with antici….

Soundtrack: Sneak Peek Video!

So what can I show you? Well, music maestro Zach Beever has been working on the House of Many Doors soundtrack. Here’s a sneak peek video of the game’s opening theme:

Suffice to say, I have been absolutely astounded by the soul-searing music which Zach is composing for me, and I hope you are too. From the start I’ve known that music would be hugely important for perfecting the game’s atmosphere, and so far I’m happier with the soundtrack than I dared hope.

Location Preview: Ghoulwatch

I have loads of art from Catherine that I could show off, and seeing her bring my weird ideas to life is pure joy, but I’m trying to dribble them out to you at a steady pace. The latest new location I have to show you is Ghoulwatch, which you may have noticed in the video above.

Ghoulwatch is an ancient fortress-city where the dead outnumber the living, and every nine years a grand election is held between the nine Ministers who vie for power.

Each such election is bitter, bloody and underhanded, and of course, you just happen to stumble into the bloodiest and bitterest one in centuries…
